  • Stitched to Planet-Protecting Perfection

The mesmerising paisley design is an iconic motif in India - its mango-like shape is seen as a symbol of fertility and is believed to fend off evil in the Indian culture. From henna art to festivals like Diwali, the well-loved pattern features heavily as a form of decoration.

This cushion is lovingly handmade using 100% upcycled cotton discarded by craft and designer hubs. In India, up to 25% of fabric is lost during the production process, contributing to an estimated one million tonnes of textile waste annually.

So enjoy that well-earned time on the sofa or in bed stylishly-cushioned, comfortably-cosy, and with a clear-conscience knowing you’ve made a positive impact on the planet.

  • The Makers

This offering is made by Jagdish and his team of talented artisans from Uttar Pradesh in India who make their products entirely by hand – a labour intensive process that requires time and attention to detail. The team are passionate about combining their love for the planet with home décor.

  • The Material

India’s duet with the cotton industry dates back over 4,500 years ago. Over time Indian artisans and traders have refined their skills and have since been one of the biggest producers of cotton - so much so that in ancient Greece and Babylon, the word ’India’ was used as a synonym for ‘cotton’.

These cushions are made from repurposed, 100% upcycled cotton that has been retrieved from piles of fabrics in craft houses and designer hubs that would otherwise be burnt and thrown into landfills.
