HandcraftedSmall batchVelvet & beadworkMade in New Delhi5,000yr technique

A traditional and attractive embroidered cushion that is a great addition to sofas, chairs and beds. Size: 14x20 inches.

Designed to Impress – Made to Last

Who doesn’t love a bit of sparkle and gold? From beadwork to zari lace, this scatter cushion celebrates the range of embroidery and fabrics India has to offer whilst instantly adding glitz and glamour to any room.

Bring out a pair along with your fancy plates during those special occasions and impress guests with its dazzling beauty. However, they can just as easily become a permanent feature in your living room or bedroom for a daily dose of glamour.

Handcrafted & Supports Craftsmanship

Beautifully-stitched by Waseem from New Delhi in India, this technique involves extensive needlework. Embroidery is a popular craft in India and dates back to 2000 BC – the method has been adapted and passed down many generations. However, artisans specialising in this craft are rapidly being replaced by the increase of machine-made alternatives.

5,000-Year Beadwork Legacy

Beadwork in India is said to be over 5000 years old. Historically, beads were made out of silver, gold, clay, ivory and wood. Now, India is one of the largest producers of beads in the world.

Made with water-resistant polyester, this cushion is delicately embroidered using strips of zari lace, velvet and beadwork to create a luxurious-looking design. It also includes a zip fastening on reverse.

Durable & Easy to Clean

• This cover fits a 14 x 20 inch insert. For a plump, full look we recommend going up to a 16 x 22 inch pad.
• Hand wash in cool water only.
• Do not machine wash - this will damage the embroidery.
• Reshape and lay flat to dry naturally.
• Do not tumble dry or wring.
• Iron on a low heat, inside out, once dry.
• Zip up before washing to protect the fabric.

FAQs

I'm not South Asian - is it okay to buy or gift these pieces?

Honestly, yes - whether that's for yourself or someone you care about.

Every item at ALORAA comes with a real story: who made it, where, using skills passed down through generations. When you bring one of these into your home or give one to someone you love, you're not just acquiring an object. You're sharing that story. That's not appropriation - it's how craft traditions survive.

The distinction that matters isn't your background. It's whether you're engaging with the culture or just borrowing the aesthetic without the story. Knowing the provenance, buying from a brand built to support the makers, choosing something with meaning attached - that's appreciation.

Are your materials sustainably sourced?

Wherever possible, yes. We prioritise materials that are responsibly harvested, recycled, or upcycled. Each product page shares details about what's used in that piece.

Why ALORAA?

Because beautiful things shouldn't come at someone else's expense. Every piece should carry respect - for the maker, the materials, and for you.

We pay fair wages without compromise and share the real stories behind our craft. That's how we create decor worth owning - and keeping.

Do you offer gift notes and wrapping?

We offer beautiful gift wrapping for just £4 and complimentary handwritten notes to make your gift even more special.

Just choose the gift option at checkout or drop us an email.

Do you offer trade or wholesale pricing?

Absolutely. We love working with interior designers, stylists and businesses. Email us at hello@aloraa.co.uk to chat about trade partnerships or bulk orders.
